The quinine was then continued orally for 10 days at a dose of 600 mg every 12 hours. Her subsequent antenatal course was uncomplicated. Films remained negative for malarial parasites. Four weeks after her admission she was readmitted in spontaneous labour that resulted in a vaginal delivery of a healthy girl weighing 2680 g. The puerperium was uneventful.
